Eugene Birth and Family Doula Service offers this 4 week course which was designed with birth center clients in mind. This class is offered in person for clients of OBWC. The Birth Informed childbirth class series, taught by Tiffany Grantom provides a comprehensive look at the process of birth, and gives you tools, practice tips, and mental frameworks. Empowered with knowledge, communication tools, and coping skills, you will walk away with the confidence that you are equipped for your birth. Join us in person and prepare to Birth Informed!

Overcoming Fear In Pregnancy and Birth

This class discusses popular norms about birth and debunking common myths surrounding birth. Whether this is your first birth or beyond, this class focuses on giving the birthing person the tools to feel empowered and educated. The way we view birth and share birth is an important aspect of changing the culture of birth. This class is in person and interactive. October 23rd, November 13th, and December 19th. 2024 dates to be announced.

 

Birth Trauma

This special class was created after so many women shared their birthing stories and viewed their birth through the lens of trauma. During this class we hold space to share our stories, discuss our fears, heal, and feel empowered to achieve your redemption birth. Included in your care at OBWC and for non-clients, this class is $125. Class length varies but typically 2-3 hours. October 18th, November 15th and December 20th. 2024 dates to be announced.

 
Baby Wearing and Cloth Diapering

Learn about baby wearing. Try on wraps, explore the fun of baby wearing! Discussion on diaper types, cleaning, and care. Class taught by Katie Rothweiler, Birth Assistant. This class is a suggested fee of $35. This class occurs quarterly. Please call us for dates.

 
Breastfeeding

This breastfeeding course covers latching, breast care, engorgement, milk storage and more. Included in your care at OBWC. Class cost $75 for non-clients. Class time is 6:30-8pm, September 27th and October 25th.

 
Newborn/Infant

This 2.5 hour class covers everything from the moment your baby arrives through the first months of life. This class covers skin care, eye care, diaper care, feeding, sleeping, and basic baby care. This class is free for OBWC clients. There is a $125 fee for non-clients.

Wednesdays, September 11th, October 11th, November 8th, and December 13th. In 2024 the second Wednesday of every month: January 10th, February 14th, March 15th, April 10th, May 8th, June 12th, July 10th, August 14th, September 11th, October 9th, November 13th and December 11th.

 
Pregnancy Nutrition

This class is included in your care at the center and is offered at all stages of pregnancy. We suggest taking this class in the first two trimesters of your pregnancy. The focus of this course is optimal nutrition during pregnancy taught by Rachel Strout, MS. Here you will learn about managing your blood sugar, avoiding or treating anemia, and more. Rachel brings fun to learning with this interactive cooking class. Course is $75 for non-clients. This class is held on September 15th.

 
Postpartum Nutrition

Offered monthly to OBWC clients, this course covers nutrition to support your body for postpartum and lactation. Rachel covered meal prep and supplements that will help boost your well-being and nourish your body. Offered on Thursday, 5-7pm monthly. Upcoming date is September 8th. Class is $75 for non-clients.

 
Gestational Diabetes

At times women develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Our master's prepared nutritionist will walk you through controlling your blood sugar through your diet. Come prepared to learn and cook. This class will not only give you the tools you need, but life-long skills for good blood sugar control. Did you know 25% of women who had gestational diabetes go on to have diabetes later in life? This course is included in your care at the center. This course is $100 for non-clients. Class is available by appointment each month and as needed.
