Women's Wellness

Did you know that pregnancy and birth is just one area that a midwife practices? Midwives also are trained in other areas including gynecology and women's health. We care for you throughout all the stages and phases of life.

Functional Medicine

Three smiling sisters and an infant Conventional medicine examines a person's symptoms, and individual systems or body parts to develop a treatment for each separate problem. Functional medicine is a systems biology-based approach to care that focuses on identifying the root cause of disease. Each symptom is viewed as contributing to an individual's illness often resulting in more than one cause. For example, depression can be caused by many factors including inflammation. In turn, inflammation may lead to other diagnosis including depression. The exact manifestation of each cause depends on an individual's genes, environment, and lifestyle. Only treatments that address the right causes will have lasting benefits. Think of it as one condition, many causes and one cause, many conditions; see below:

Gynecology

Midwives care for women's health including common gynecological issues such as:

• Painful periods
• Heavy bleeding with periods or bleeding in between periods
• PCOS
• Infertility
• Annual exams
• STI testing
• Hormone imbalances
• Pap/pelvic exams and menopause.

We offer care in a comfortable environment where you will feel safe and supported. Midwives can prescribe medication and order testing such as ultrasounds, mammograms, DEXA scans, and laboratory tests.

Primary Care

As Nurse Practitioners we have been trained in common problems such as:

• Hypertension
• Thyroid management
• Gastrointestinal concerns

We are also able to perform annual wellness exams along with ordering yearly laboratory analysis to monitor your overall well-being. We are able to prescribe medications and offer referrals as needed. Coming in Summer 2024, Pediatric and Family Care will be available at our new wellness annex.
